Now you just feel the charm of one of the oldest cities in India, Madurai. This city is a temple town with a history that dates back to pre-Christian times. In the 14th century AD, Madurai served as the imperial capital of the Pandyan Empire. Additionally, this was the hub for learning the Tamil language.

So, on this trip discover the treasures of the city such as the Gandhi Memorial Museum, and Thirumalai Nayakkar Palace. And, you’ll also get an opportunity to see the magnificence of Meenakshi Temple.

After spending a day, you’ll stay overnight at the hotel in Madurai.

Day 2: Move Onto Rameswaram from Madurai

Your second day of the trip starts with a delicious breakfast. Now, check out from the hotel at the mentioned time and bid farewell to Madurai. We are going on a journey to Rameswaram. Once you arrive there, check into the hotel and get some rest.

The holy city of Rameswaram is renowned for the sacred Ramanathaswamy Temple. Particularly this place draws Hindu worshipers from all over the world throughout the year.

Furthermore, you can also explore other tourist attractions of this temple town. Then, you’ll head back to the hotel in Rameswaram and spend your night there.

Day 3: Visiting the Town of Dhanushkodi (Tamil Nadu)

After having a stomach full of breakfast, you’ll proceed to Dhaushkodi for an unforgettable experience. Also, any trip to Rameswaram is incomplete without stopping at this one stunning village. Dhanushkodi is located at the southern tip of India. This is marked by the remains of an ancient city that was destroyed by a previous tsunami.

Traveling to this place, which is only a few miles from Sri Lanka, is highly recommended. You’ll take a quick bus ride (20 min) and then a beautiful van ride to get to the town center.

You can get a chance to witness India’s former historic town on this stunning island. Here, all that remains is a temple, and a broken wall. Adam’s Bridge, also known as Ramar Sethu Palam, is a short distance away. It previously connected Pamban Island with Sri Lanka. Many mythologists believe that this was constructed by Lord Rama himself during the Ramayana period. However, some scientists attempt to disprove this as a myth.

The remainder of the evening will be yours to spend however you want. You can take some time to explore freely in this beloved religious spot.

Finally, for an overnight stay, go back to the hotel in Rameswaram.
